More on the River.My sister Marilyn who I mentioned yesterday as the family historian lives just one mile south of where our folks first lived on the river.My brother Joe live for years just half a mile east of our folks but his property did not reach all the way to the river, his daughter Joan lives within just a couple hundred feet to the west of where her dad lived.Bob and Gerry’s daughter and her husband own and live on the land where Gerry was born and lived until she became the wife of Bob.Laura Gates Lil & Don’s daughter lives half a mile to the east of where Lil still lives on the farm her and Don farmed & milked cows, I’m not sure but I think Laura & Audi’s property goes to the river, if not, it is very close.So the Yellow River has been a big part of the family.The great grand father of both Bob & I migrated from Oshawa, Canada, to Chicago by foot as a young man. His son, our grandfather moved his family to Washington Township.Bob’s father William (Bill) and my mother Hazel had a secret saying, They didn’t dare swear or they would get there mouth washed out with soap so they would say Acbabacaca. less than four mile stretch of Yellow River is covered by those written about yesterday and today.Meet me at the River. will talk about it next time.
